Print On Demand

The Printery's Print-On-Demand process utilizes digital technology to print documents only when an order has been received. This provides the flexibility to print “just-in-time” not “just-in-case," allowing you to eliminate the cost of warehousing and obsolescence while providing easy access to timely materials that capture opportunities in changing markets.
POD has real benefits for real printing ROI (Return on Investment):
- Economy. Large inventories of printed material do not need to be kept in stock, reducing warehouse storage, handling costs, and inventory accounting costs.
- Speed. Technical prepress and digital press set-up is usually quicker than for offset printing. Files for repeat orders are kept on-hand, ready to be printed when an order comes in.
- Less waste. There is little or no waste from unsold or unused products.
These advantages reduce the risks associated with large print runs and can lead to increased choice. Digital printing has a number of applications for our customers; for example, it allows them to print items even when they can’t justify the expense of producing and warehousing a sizeable print run, or to keep backlisted print collateral available. For small press runs, it can be used as a more economical fulfillment method, trading minimal initial costs against lower quantities. Last but not least, there are the print-on-demand self-publishing services, which offer a fee-based service that can be described, depending on one’s bias, as either vanity publishing or self-publishing.
