The Printery Celebrates 100 Years in Printing

Founded as The Badger State Printery in 1910, The Printery celebrates its centennial in September as one of the longest-lived printers in the Midwest.

From humble beginnings and a tradition of delivering high-caliber craftsmanship and business integrity, it grew: first by serving the needs of banks and insurance companies of downtown Milwaukee in 1910, then through acquisitions to expand its capabilities into a regional four-color force in the printing market, and eventually by transforming itself into an end-to-end print production company that works in tandem with clients throughout North America.

 

Mutual trust must be earned. It may be as simple as a handshake and knowing that your printer will do the right thing to ensure a successful project, no matter how big or small. Our reputation has been built on trust, in our capability to get the jobs done right, on time and within budget. Since 1910, this has been the hallmark of our service, and we have stayed true to our core values for 100 years, applying a high set of business standards, ethics, experience and capability to all of our relationships. As we celebrate our centennial in September as one of the longest-lived printers in the Midwest, we reflect on our humble beginnings and a tradition of delivering high-caliber craftsmanship and business integrity. Due to its long history of quality work and a solid client base, The Printery was acquired by Consolidated Graphics in 1999, a company founded on the concept of local service backed by the financial strength and geographic reach of a large company. When it joined forces with Consolidated Graphics, the nation's largest sheetfed and half web printer, it was able to offer customers an entire universe of graphic solutions, with high-tech printing and global access to a vast capabilities network; all through that same convenient Wisconsin printing plant where quality and integrity still thrive after a century of service.
